A strategic meeting was held at the Russian House in Kathmandu between representatives of the Russian House and the Shailee Theatre team, focusing on strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation and expanding creative exchanges between the two institutions. The discussion highlighted several key areas of collaboration, most notably preparations for the 17th National Children’s Drama Festival, scheduled to take place from February 9 to 14, 2026. Both sides expressed strong commitment to supporting children’s and youth theatre as a platform for creativity, cultural understanding, and artistic growth.

Additional areas of cooperation include the development of joint theatrical productions and the exploration of opportunities to establish a cinema club at the Russian House, aimed at promoting cross-cultural appreciation through film and performing arts. The meeting also addressed plans for organizing special events to mark significant milestones in 2026, including the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Nepal and the 250th anniversary of the world-renowned Bolshoi Theatre. These commemorations are expected to serve as important cultural landmarks, further deepening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, Shailee Theatre presented an ambitious cultural program for 2026, outlining a series of performances and activities designed to engage artists, children, youth, and wider audiences. The program promises a vibrant and diverse cultural calendar throughout the year. Adviser of Shailee Theatre, Mr. Mahesh Paudyal, played a vital role in making the meeting successful through his guidance, coordination, and constructive contribution to the dialogue. The meeting was also attended by President Nawaraj Budathoki; poet and artist, as well as adviser of Shailee Theatre, Mr. Pramod Sarang; and other new members.
