USA, Nepali writer, critic and translator Mahesh Paudyal was felicitated by the New Hampshire chapter of International Nepali Literary Society. Author Paudyal was felicitated in an event organised by the Society to mark the 115th birth anniversary of great Nepali poet Laxmi Prasad Devota on Sunday. Chaired by the Chapter’s president Hari Maya Acharya, the event was graced by INLS central president Govardhan Pooja as the Chief Guest. Poet and lyricist Anu Shah was also honored in the same event. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Paudyal said Devkota was inclusive right from his initial days of writing and carried a transnational vision. He further said Devkota pioneered the exercise to translate Nepali literature into English and thus internationalise Nepali literature. Writer Ram Chandra Bhandari shed light on the life and works of poet Devkota. Poet Batu Prasad Neupane spoke on the primacy of philanthropic works, especially those related to underprivileged children in Nepal. Singer Hari Maya Adhikari and musician Sagar Khatiwada performed deusi-bhailo songs to mark Deepawali that is coincidentally at our doorsteps. Coordinated by the chapter´s chief editor Ishwari Bhatta, the event also featured dance performance by children and poetic recital by poets including Deepa Rai Pun, Batu Prasad Neupane, Nanda Sharma, and others. Meanwhile, the newly elected executive committee of the chapter chaired by Hari Maya Adhikari was sworn in for the term 2024-26. Financial report, performance report and the future plans of the chapter were also presented on the occasion.
